DONAVAN MOORE

Donavan is originally from 'Winter Peg” aka Winnipeg where he went to high school and University of Winnipeg.  An avid athlete, he played volleyball at a national level.  He then spent a few misspent years in California playing beach volleyball and breaking hearts. Donavan was trained in the classical techniques of tattooing at a Federal Institution where his tuition was “fully paid”. Interesting fact - he can build a tattoo machine out of pretty much anything!

He has experience doing tattoos in many unique locations and on many unique individuals. Donavan slowly moved west with his family and has never looked back. He had a studio in Calgary for 8 years. Since 2014, Donavan has called Kelowna home, working in shops around town before opening his own shop in 2017. An avid bike rider, he also airbrushes helmets and bikes. Currently he is working on an airbrush painting of the Rolling Stones, which you can see photos of in our gallery.

Donavan takes inspiration from so many things. He enjoys meeting people and speaking to them about the inspiration for the tattoo they want. His viewpoint is that tattoos are like scars, there is always a story behind them. After an initial consultation, the end result is always so much more than what it started as. He relies on his background in kinesiology to make the lines of the tattoos work with the lines of the body. Detailed realism is his forte.

The hallmark of Donavan's artistic style is that he doesn’t have one. As a multi talented and multi media artist whose inspirations range from Salvadore Dali and Boris Velaisho and Julie Bell to black and grey tattoo artists like Carlos Torres, he is truly a renaissance man!

Donavan’s most amazing accomplishment is his two beautiful children who he loves very much.
